Early education is the most important time of our lives. Information, interaction, physicality, who we are, and how to love, are all learned in our earliest years. At Moonstone preschool – a collaborative, arts-intensive, creatively expressive educational facility – we focus on helping the child explore. By acknowledging Gardner’s eight multiple intelligences, and embracing facets of Dewey’s holistic approach to preschool education, we create an all-inclusive, effective education environment.
Our method of utilizing each of Gardner’s intelligences – linguistic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, spatial, mathematical, kinesthetic, musical, naturalistic – as a doorway to understanding creates a curriculum that allows each individual to welcome learning in the way that they are most comfortable. By remembering and using the intelligences in a fun, loving, arts-based setting, we are able to introduce and familiarize each child’s mind with all styles of learning. We know the key to having the children listen to us, lies in our ability to listen to them, so we put a lot of energy into building healthy relationships and helping them to do the same.

As a school founded on the advantages of variety and diversity, we naturally strive towards thinking and educating “outside the box”. We are faithful supporters of modern and classical dance at the Annenberg Theatre, and we are passionate about attending children’s theatre events, including our favorites at the Arden. Moonstone’s program also includes monthly visits to our city’s art museum, and we take advantage of our user-friendly city’s beautiful gardens and parks as much as possible. We have an extensive and varied field trip program, because we know how much education is born of experience.
